HIPOS TATTOOS

Welcome to Hipos Tattoos website! Joan R. Casany, Hipos (graffiti writer name), born in Valencia, Spain – 1990. Professional tattooer specialised in blackwork, traditional/neotrad and geometric designs. Influenced by underground music and culture, started to paint graffiti at the beginning of 2002, and never stopped.

Tattooing professionally since 2015, but started in 2013. I had my first tattoo studio experience at TATUARTE VALENCIA (since May 2015), and I moved to Ireland in January 2019, starting a new project with the Smiley Dogg Family.

Since I decided in 2017 to immerse myself in the blackwork and black traditional, I found my own way, to express what I was really wanting to do. Even so, I love to do geometric tattoos and mandalas, it helps me a lot to keep focused and to feel chill and disconnected from my usual work. I’ve been expanding my knowledge and my skills, learning from really nice tattoo artists and artists (friends, masters, etc), and therefore, I’ve a huge respect for the historical tradition of tattooing, paying special attention to the details, how they were doing everything, understanding every step, and trying to create my own between this and the present where we are living right now.
